From 21st to 24th of January we received a groups of students and teachers from Bethel college. The group got an introduction into the flora and fauna of our cloud forest. We let them look for orchids in our orchid garden (and they found 16 flowering species) and let them identify hummingbirds based on drawing they made themselves while observing our little feathered friends for 30 minutes on our feeders. They managed to identify seven species. On the guides tours and during the presentation in the eventing they had lots of questions a few of which might lead to future scientific research in our reserve.
Of course a soccer match on the last (pouring rain included) was also part of the program and there was a little fiesta with traditional music (played by Santa Lucía staff) on the last evening.
We hope they enjoyed their stay as much as we did and look foward to seeing them again in 2020.
