Last week we ran our macroinvertebrate monitoring again. We monitored two river within and one river outside of the Santa Lucía reserve. Since Silvana Gallegos, a specialist on that type of monitoring, joined us we had the chance to adjust our methodology a little. She and Erick Lopez also helped us greatly with ID'ing some of the insect larvae found. We still look into the analysis, but at first glance it looks like the rivers within the Santa Lucía reserve are in a healthy state. Everything else would have surprised us greatly.
The next round of monitoring is planned for August, where we expect to find a somewhat different mixture of macroinvertebrates since it will be dry season then.
